Editorial Review

The X40 Ultra was Dreame's flagship before the X50 and L40 Ultra Gen 2 arrived, and it still holds up on the fundamentals: 12,000 Pa suction (a jump from the prior model's 8,300 Pa, per Dreame), and a full LiDAR + RGB camera + 3D structured light navigation stack that gives it strong obstacle detection without needing the X50's mechanical legs.

The dock's auto-maintenance is a nice technical detail: it cleans both the mop pad and the dock's own washboard simultaneously with 158°F hot water, rather than just rinsing the pad against a static surface.

OmniDirt detection and MopExtend RoboSwing are aimed at scrubbing under low furniture and into corners — useful if your home has a lot of baseboards, kickboards, or low cabinet toe-kicks that trap debris.

Pros

  • Full LiDAR + RGB camera + 3D structured light navigation
  • Dock hot-water washes both the mop pad and its own washboard at 158°F
  • MopExtend RoboSwing reaches under low furniture and into corners
  • OmniDirt detection targets tough messes

Cons

  • 12,000 Pa is mid-pack suction next to the L40 Ultra Gen 2 (25,000 Pa) and X50 Ultra (20,000 Pa)
  • No confirmed per-charge runtime, self-empty days, or dedicated pet-hair brush tech
  • Superseded by Dreame's newer X50 Ultra and L40 Ultra Gen 2

Best for: Buyers who want Dreame's full camera+LiDAR navigation stack at a lower price than the newest X50/L40 flagships.

Who should skip it: Anyone chasing the newest generation's higher suction or leg-climbing obstacle handling.
